Damaso Gals ~ Vintage Taxco Sterling Silver Grape Leaf retailer Pin / Brooch with Grapes c. 1940's

This well made sterling grape leaf pin was made in Taxco, Mexico by Damaso Gals. It's in good vintage condition with light wear. The front of the brooch has been polished, but the back remains unpolished. There is a straight pin with rolling lock in back in good working condition. It measures about 2 inch by 1 3/4 inches and weighs 10 grams. I put an old dime in one of the pictures to give a perspective of size. The hallmark on back reads Sterling Taxco 925 DG (in script).
Gals worked at Taller Borda (Aguilar) prior to opening his retailer own shop called La Amatista in the early 1940's. This grape leaf pin was made some time between 1943 and 1948.
