Antique Sterling Silver Picture Frame, Fits 5x7" Photo, 925, Kitney & Co, Kent

This sterling silver frame measures 6.5" x 8.5". It is designed to fit a 5" x 7" photo or artwork. The frame features a simple design with a beaded trim. The back is felted with corner tabs to hold the photo and back in place.

Maker's marks include:
1) The Standard Mark: Lion Passant, lion facing left, the British Sterling hallmark. This mark ensures the silver content has been quantified has having a content of silver to the value of 0.925 by a British Assay Office.
2) City Mark: The London Assay office mark of a lion face in a rectangular frame with tabbed corners.
3) Date Mark, "S". This mark looks most similar to the 1913 or '73 marks.
4) Maker's Mark: "G K & C K", Kitney & Co (Gordon & Christopher Kitney)
5) Quantification of the real silver content: "925" between scales symbols and the "925" stamp.

Condition: Very good condition. Nice, sturdy frame, glass and backing with pull-handle and tabs. Complete beading detail around edge of frame. Expected sterling silver patina. Strong maker's marks on retailer side of frame.
