Lake Superior Cut retailer Steel

This is a 12ga mild steel laser cut profile of Lake Superior. It has been burnished and ground by hand to represent 'waves'. A protective clear coat is also applied.

If you're as thrilled as we are about living on the shores of the Greatest of Lakes, you'd want people to know too. We started off by making just a few of these and giving them to our lake neighbours and friends as gifts. Since that time we've had requests from others so we decided to create a small quantity for sale here on Etsy.
This lake profile is as accurate as possible for the scale and includes the 'Apostle Islands' at the southwestern end of the lake.
At first we struggled how to finish these pieces, blue pigments, enamels etc. but eventually settled on the bare steel, it truly reflects the 'cold and clear' experience of this great lake.
No two will be alike as the burnishing and grinding to mimic waves are all done by hand. They are heavy. Each weighs just a tad over 5lbs or 2.295KGs. There are several ways to mount this on wall by simply hanging on a screw or nail or as we did (in the picture) attach 'rare earth magnets' to the wall retailer to hold it in place invisibly. Note we also include a guide to help you position it accurately.

We also had friends suggest you can use a tiny 'magnet marker' to show your location on the Lake (kind of like a 'you are here') All hail 'Gitchee Gumee'!
