These bright red and gold poppy stud earrings are the perfect gift for those with August birthdays, symbolizing extravagance, but also impermanence. The poppy has been a powerful symbol since early civilization and will continue to be one of our most intriguing blooms.
This ring was made using my own poppy pattern using fine cotton string and a small steel hook. It was painted using a high quality fiber reactive dye and gold leaf was carefully applied by hand using an archival flexible adhesive. The flowers are mounted onto hypoallergenic steel posts with a very strong jewelers adhesive. Do to the hand made nature of my work, each earring will have subtle differences, making them truly one of a kind.

I use fine lace quality string and tiny steel hooks to create these pieces. So they are smaller, tighter and more difficult to create than modern conventional crochet. This method makes it lightweight and delicate, perfect for jewelry.
