This is handmade artistic paper-mâché made in Kashmir. Kashmir is know for its beauty arts and crafts across the globe. Every item is detailed and hand painted. Some items are from solid wood but most are made out of paper pulp. Mold are used to make these items. Surfaces are smoothened with a special process which all done by hand using special stones. Fine trace paper is stuck on the smoothened base. Artist then draws the outline of the design with a fine pencil. He then uses brush to start painting in different stages. Each step is planed well and finely detailed. In certain designs real gold leaf is also used. Different flowery, scenic, birds,animals hunting scenes, etc are drawn depending on the skill of retailer the artist and demand from customers. Various seasonal items are also made such as Easter eggs and boxes, Christmas ornaments, jewelry boxes, trinket boxes, flower vases, table lamps and other various gift items are manufactured.
