These earrings were made by first drawing out the design. The silver "frame" was cut out with a laser. Then the enamelling was done by hand.

Since enamel is done by hand each piece is a little bit different.

I am inspired by nature so you will see quite a few flower pieces in my shop.

I studied to be a goldsmith in Switzerland where I also learned enameling and am well known in Vancouver BC and also my part time home in Sao Paulo Brazil. My pieces have been featured at the Orpheum Theatre and also at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Although I am retired I am still creating jewelry and you will see more of my pieces for sale every month.

Cloisonné (French pronunciation: [klwazɔne]) is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, and inlays of cut gemstones, glass and other materials were also used during older periods. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné.

Enamelling goes back to ancient times when glass enamels were used in metalwork. This enabled the jeweler to use glass instead of rare gems.

Enamels are fine particles of glass applied to metal to add color. Usually enamels are dry sifted onto the surface or by wet packing the enamel into channels or cut out areas in the metal. The enamel is then heated until it softens and flows.
