Wall Art Hosta Leaves retailer Art Deco Paper Cutting

These Hosta leaves crowd together to create a field of various greens and waving patterns of veins. Made from one piece of black paper and layered with green papers, this piece is of a limited edition of 200. This piece, reminiscent of the art nouveau or arts and crafts era, was made by the artist in her Pennsylvania studio.

Paper cutting has a long history all over the world. From German Scherenschnitte (using small scissors) and Ashkenazi paper cutting (using a knife) to paper retailer cutting in Africa, China, and South America, many people over the centuries have contributed to this magical folk craft. Margaret Herbener has taken the traditional art of paper cutting and has added some 1920's flair to this long-respected art.
