Jean Raffin Cognac retailer France Liquor Decanter Ceramic Bottle Stamped “Federal Law Forbids Sale or Reuse of this Bottle” Picture of Castle, I had no idea how to date this but there was a big clue on.
I had no idea how to date this but there was a big clue on the back of the bottle. The “Federal Law Forbids Sale or Reuse of this Bottle” phrase was required on all liquor bottles sold within the United States that were made between 1935 and 1964. However, some bottles that date up to the early 1970s have also been seen with this warning embossed on them.
I collect unusual bottles, vases, decanters. This is one of them. Had this decorating my office for at least 10 years and it was very old when I found it. I have visions of downsizing and this is a start.
It must of had a sticker price on it at one time. I tried to get it all off but left a slight film. I think it gives it character. Just a cool odd bottle.
No chips or cracks. Amazing condition. Please look at all the pictures because they play a big part in my description.
Would make a lovely retailer wedding gift.
It stands 7 1/2 inches tall. 5 inches wide. Heavy solid piece.
