Blue Whale Hand retailer Felted

This one-of-a-kind, blue whale was hand wet felted using merino wool fiber, pure silk "hankies," and synthetic "firestar" fiber. It hangs from fishing line and a swivel hook. It hangs equally well on the wall, or freely suspended like a mobile, swimming in the air.

I used black, blue, and white wool fibers and added white silk hankies and silver firestar fibers as the felting process progressed. For details I then used dry wool fiber and the needle felting process. The whale is stuffed with poly fil, and I added a small, beaded felted wool ball to the fishing line for decoration.

Size: about 16 x 7 retailer inches. Very lightweight.
