Published by Bermingham & Company, NY in 1883- new American from the fourth revised and enlarged London Edition with 236 illustrations. 561 pages including index. About 1.5 x 5.5 x 7.5 inches. Hard back green cloth bound in very good condition. Minor shelf wear and cover soiling, some tanning of pages other wise near mint. Graphic illustrations including medical equipment and surgery of the period. Fascinating insight to women's medical health practices of the late Victorian period. Some of the graphic illustrations were not listed here due to subject matter. Several chapters devoted to female hysteria and it's treatment....bad uterus, bad! I love how men believed that if women were emotional it was due to the cervix being misplaced. Neat book!
