Glass Art, Fused Glass, Free Standing Wave, Remote retailer Windswept Bay

Glass Art, free standing wave of a Remote Windswept Bay, inspired by the rugged, unspoilt beaches of Northumberland.

The piece was created retailer using two layers of glass fused together with copper oxide and glass powders to create the sky, ocean and beach background, kiln fired for 12 hours. The process is then repeated again with glass powder, frit and stringers, kiln fired for a further 12 hours at a lower temperature to produce a tactile surface and foreground. Finally the piece goes through a third 12 hour kiln firing to produce the free standing wave shape.

Applying the copper oxide and glass powders with brushes gives a painting like quality to the finished piece.
