This pure fine woolen angora Kullu scarf is 68 cm wide and 2 meters in length.
The Kullu shawl is woven using tapestry technique, using weft yarn, turning yarn into fabric by using short lengths. It is very time-consuming and requires great skill.
These weaving techniques have been passed down through generations of mountain people and the trade of these shawls now plays a significant role in the economy of the Kullu valley. Handlooms can be found in nearly every home in rural areas and more than 10,000 people earn their livelihood by weaving and selling their traditional Kullu valley shawl.
The Kullu shawl is made from three types of wool: Merino/Angora and Sheep
The Kullu shawls that I sell, are mostly Angora, they are very fine, soft, and retailer warm.
By buying these shawls you will be supporting the Kullu valley community and keeping their tradition alive.
