On offer is this lovely antique lidded retailer pitcher. It's in good condition overall - there's a small stained hairline around the top edge as well as notable glaze chips over the handle (please refer to images); glaze loss to the underside base; notable light crazing all over the inside area with numerous blackened stained marks; the pewter metal has also darkened over the years creating a lovely aged patina but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.

It's of traditional form, beautifully decorated in relief showing majestic Japanese crane birds with a fish catch among water reeds - the detailing is of a good standard which displays ever so well still. The top area features a repetitive border and the handle shows subtle highlights.

The original pewter hinged top is present and functions as it should.

Unmarked for a maker, English produced, circa late 19th century.

It measures 19cm (7 and 1/2 inches) in total height to the top of the lid finial and despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
