The Boston Almanac was printed annually in the 19th century as the must-have, go-to pocket guide to Boston, Massachusetts. It contained a calendar, list of all elected and appointed officials, directory of names and addresses of practitioners of most occupations, advertisements for high value goods, etc. It was indispensable, portable, and affordable and allowed locals and visitors alike to navigate the who, what, and where of "The Hub." This was printed in late 1851 to be sold and used throughout 1852. The publisher was B.B. Mussey and Co. Hardbound in black cloth with an impressed floral retailer design on the front and back covers and a gilt decorative title cartouche on the front cover. Some slight cracking and chipping at the spine and bumped corners, but still well-bound. Some old pencil markings inside front and back covers, but no serious detraction for this antique "pocket Google" equivalent of the 1800s. A great collectible from 170 years ago! Great gift for lover of Boston history.
