This is a listing for two antique fine French porcelain plates made by J Pouyat Limoges (JPL France). The J. Pouyat factory produced fine porcelain from 1842-1932. The plates are being sold individually or as a set. Use the drop down feature above to make your selection.

The hallmark on the back of both plates indicates that these plates were made between 1906 and 1932 in an art nourveau style. Art Nouveau is characterized by the use of a long, sinuous, organic retailer lines and often include plants and elements of nature.

Although the plates are lovely to look at, they don't appear to be cabinet plates made only for display. They are part of a dining set. These dessert. salad, luncheon plates are 7 1/2" in diameter.

They are decorated with hand painted flowers with accents of gold. One plate is surrounded by beautifully drawn chrysanthemums and the second is surrounded by anemones. Each plate is signed on the back by the artist.(see photos)

"The history of Limoges china begins in the late 1700s when kaolin was found at St. Yreix, near the city of Limoges in the region of France known as Limousin. Kaolin is a pale-colored clay that looks almost white. Shortly after the first Limoges factory was established, Louis XVI bought it. Limoges porcelain is considered to be one of the finest hard-paste porcelains in the world.

These unusual and rare plates are truly stunning. They would make a wonderful gift, home decor piece and a valued addtion to a collection..

The condition of thes plates is excellent...there are no cracks, chips, crazing or damage of any kind.
