The plaster providing a smooth finish for the Buddha and the porosity of the cement finish soaking in the acid stain creating a contrast of dark and light. The Buddha is a spiritual symbol and an example of how to walk the path of mindfulness. The name Buddha means enlightened one because the Buddha was a man who found enlightenment.
