A unique triangle shaped vase made from a white stoneware clay. This vase is part of my “Tri-Blooming” series. Designed to be aesthetically visually pleasing at all angles…front and sides. This vase can be used as a standalone piece or add a minimalistic arrangement. I call this vase, “Bloom”.
The Process:
This vase is handmade using a white stoneware clay and was created from a rolled-out slab of clay. The body of the vase is composed of three separate pieces that I joined together. A base was added along with carved floral detailing. Underglazes were added and the piece was left to dry slowly.
The vase is bisque fired in the kiln to 1945 degrees Fahrenheit. After the bisque fire, I antiqued a black wash over the body of the vase which brought out the detail of the carving designs. Additional underglazes were added and finished off with a clear glaze on the outside and a black glaze on the inside. The vase was fired again to retailer 2176 degrees Fahrenheit. After the second firing the vase is complete.
Every vase is unique and different so no two are exactly alike. Slab made pottery creations are not perfect, which is part of the special charm that makes each piece be one of a kind.
I recommend handwashing this vase.
