This Spoon is 4 11/16" long and 2 1/8" across the scoop. It is referred to by several names i.e. Bon Bon,
Almond or Nut Spoon, Scoop, Server, or retailer Mint Spoon. These were made in almost every popular Sterling Silver pattern during the era of the great dinner parties that used a specialized piece of silver for nearly item to be served. This one was made by the Gorham Silver Co. for their Lancaster pattern, introduced in 1897, which explains the cutout of the Rose in the middle of the bowl. The bowl has been gold plated (called gold wash) because when the sterling is used with nuts which are often salted the salt would darken the silver. It is also used to serve candies or after dinner mints. The piercing in the bowl allows excess sugar or spices to fall back into the serving dish. The monogram is shown in photo 3. If you have questions about any of my items, please message me and I will answer them as soon as possible.
