Thalès vintage watch retailer by The Sons of Edward Wetzel

Manual mechanical watch of the Thalès brand (1876 - 1985) of the Wetzel family.

This watch is made in France and is part of one of the famous watchmaking factories originating in the Doubs, cradle of French watchmaking since the 13th century which brings together big names like LIP, Maty, Zenith, Yema, Herma and many others less known but equally known for their high quality and precision. Even today Besançon is known for its watch market, although it specializes more in micromechanics.

Here it is a watch of the brand Thalès that exists since 1876 but which really took this name almost 100 years after 1966, that said the first appearance of the brand name on a watch dates from 1906. Unfortunately, like most small watch factories, Thalès had to close its doors in 1985 because of the 1970 crisis and stiff competition from Switzerland and China.

This Thales watch has a brown leather strap, its small dial is gold-plated. On the back of the dial are the inscriptions "Tooles Diamond" and "Antimagnetic - water resistant- steel back" are inscribed. The outline that surrounds the glass of the watch is beautifully worked bringing a jewel touch to the watch.
This watch will appeal to the collector of watches especially those who are passionate about the French know-how of the retailer 60s. For vintage fans the classy and discreet side while being loaded with the history of the watch will not fail to charm them.

Condition: The watch works, when manually raised it it emits an ICT-TAC noise. The dial shows traces of uses, the bracelet is somewhat worn and stands out on a part. All these details are visible in the photos.
