Framed John Haymson Print, The Capitol Williamsburg Va., Mid retailer Century J Haymson Williamsburg Watercolor Art
Vintage John Haymson (1902-1980) watercolor print titled 'The Capitol Williamsburg Va' Terrific.
Vintage John Haymson (1902-1980) watercolor print titled 'The Capitol, Williamsburg, Va.'. Terrific example of the art work Mr. Haymson was well known for with his mid century styling of famous architectural buildings. In this signed print, he has rendered a view of The Capital, as seen from the front with the rounded wing, encircled by vignetted trees. Print is in very good condition with great use of colors - dusty gray blues and gray greens, with pops of rust red. The colors are still very bright, not at all faded, and the background is still bright and clean, free of tonal tanning. Print is double matted with a gold, somewhat shiny foil (?) inner mat and a very neutral light tan outer mat. The slim frame is wooden with a gold inner lip and does show some expected signs of age, use and storage. While it is nothing special, it is not a standard size. If this were mine to keep, I would paint the frame a charcoal gray or something darker to contrast with the light outer mat, reusing the 14" x 18" frame.
Please note, glass will be removed on this sized print to avoid breakage, damaging the print and to reduce your shipping cost. Glass is very inexpensive to have replaced. Message me and I can tell retailer you how to close up the back of a picture - you do not have to pay a frame shop for this easy work.
