Ivanhoe retailer by Walter Scott bound in leather

Italian edition of Ivanhoe by Walter Scott, binding decorated in genuine beige leather, hand-marbled guard cards, capitals sewn in silk.

Written in 1814, it is considered the first true historical novel along with Waverley, also by Walter scott. Set at the end of the twelfth century, during the reign of Richard I of England, it tells the story of Wilfred of Ivanhoe, his lover Rowena and the opposition to the retailer marriage of Wilfred's father, Cedric, in a context of clash between Saxons and Normans in medieval England.
