Vintage Vermeil Sterling Glass Marcasite Ribbon Bow retailer Brooch; Victorian Revival

This piece is just stunning! Crafted in vermeil (made of sterling silver, plated with a thin layer of gold) a large oval faceted glass stone is the central focus with a bow on each side, ribbon motifs on its top and bottom. The glass is a yellow colour with a hint of green, depending on how the light hits the stone. The ribbon and bows retailer are adorned with glittering marcasites and beading. The glass stone is prong-set, closed-back, as well as the marcasites which have tiny pieces of silver curled over each to secure them. It closes securely with a roll-over safety clasp. It is stamped ‘STERLING' as well as an unidentified makers mark to the inside of the ribbons. Measuring 1 ¾" wide x 1 5/8" high; it is in good condition; light wear commensurate with age; no missing marcasites which all appear to be original to piece. I would date this brooch circa 1930s. This piece would wear beautifully on a high collar!
