This is a very beautiful and quirky Victorian Book Box. They were used for keeping money and valuables in and would be hidden amongst real books on their books shelves.
This one is made from wood and has a lovely aged patina retailer. They are often used nowadays as trinket/jewellery/keepsake boxes.
I have shown the book from all different viewpoints in the pictures - there are small imperfections like some scratches and some cracks appearing at the hinges. It is still a sturdy box and a light waxing would preserve it for many years to come.
It measures 25.5cm by 15cm by 6.5cm
