Vintage Tyrolean Hat - LaSalle, retailer Black Fur Felt with Gold Satin Lining, 1950s

This gorgeous - and I do mean gorgeous - Tyrolean is by LaSalle. I haven't found much about them, but the people who have them seem to love them! This one is stamped LaSalle on the sweatband, as well as on the gold satin liner. It's also marked 'Genuine Fur Felt - Genuine Velour.' It retains the original brown leather sweatband.

This was professionally cleaned and blocked/shaped by Hatman Jack's of Wichita KS last year. It was in VERY rough shape when I got it. With proper cleaning, it's now a lovely black, with a hint of navy in some lights. They replaced the feather as well. The fur felt is very nice; heavy and soft. Very nice, certainly on a par with any Dobbs or Churchills I've had in the store. It's a great hat, with lots of life left in it.

Dating this is hard, because there's very little information about LaSalle out there. I have found advertisements from the 1940s; my best guess is that this hat is probably 1950s.

Condition: the hat itself is very nice. The sweatband is lovely leather, still soft and pliable, though showing some wear, especially along the edge that covers the wire frame. A lot of the printing on the liner has worn off with time. You may want to have it shaped and blocked specifically for you.

Measurements: this has no labels inside - no size tag, no reorder label, nothing. So the measurements are: brim 1.5" wide; crown is 3.5" tall in front, and 5" tall on the sides; the inside measures 8" front to back and 7" side to side, with a 22.75" interior circumference.
