Listing is for a stunning Murano Sommerso* piece with blue and green base and clear glass lobes.

This would be a lovely addition to any collection of Murano or European art glass. The piece complements any retro, vintage, mid-century modern, 1950's, 1960's, minimal or contemporary interior as a bud vase, candy dish, jewelry bowl or simply on display as it catches the light beautifully.

This piece is in Excellent vintage condition with no marks, chips or scratches. Base has a polished pontil, no label.

*NOTE: Sommerso ("submerged" in Italian), or "sunken glasses", is a form of artistic Murano glass that has layers of contrasting colors (typically two), which are formed by dipping a gather of colored glass into another molten glass and then blowing the gather into the desired shape; the outermost layer, or casing, is often clear. Sommerso was developed in Murano during the late thirties and was made popular by retailer Seguso d'Arte & Mandruzzato family in the fifties. This process is a popular technique for vases, and is sometimes used for sculptures.
