Meerschaum translates as
"foam of the sea," and is a soft
white mineral that is often seen
floating on the sea. Usually sourced
from Turkey, Meerschaum hardens when
exposed to heat.

Meerschaum was first used for pipes @ 1723.
The nodules were sought after because Meerschaum
lends to gorgeous carvings, and its porous nature draws
tobacco and moisture into the stone, providing a more flavorful
smoking experience.

Meerschaum changes color from the base up,
as it is smoked. Expect retailer to see yellow, red, orange,
and amber.
