- About My Stones: I do not use “art stones” or any artificially produced stone. All my stones are retrieved by hand from natural sites where collecting is permitted either by individual collectors or for commercial use. Therefore, it is a real treat to find geometrically perfect forms. They are rare and more often than not, large stones (3-10 lbs) are painted with designs of high complexity or near perfect symmetry to honor these rarer “finds”. Most stones, especially the larger ones will often have some irregularity in shape, or surface pitting. These are then filled minimally with an acrylic paste (like gesso on traditional wood panels) or modeling clay. The slightly higher cost of these large stones represents the labor in finding them and finishing their surfaces before painting is begun.
