Retailer Rage

If you haven't checked out Rage Against the Machine's performance at the Democratic National Convention in the summer of two thousand, then this may be the time to renew your knowledge of American history, if not as a citizen of the empire itself then as one of a vassal. This band seemed to get brushed with the same broad stroke that gave rise to the culture of the "bogan" in Australia. To a backdrop of what was termed "Nu metal", unfortunately, the message retailer at the heart of Rage Against the Machine seemed to get a little lost in translation. The more sensitive Australian types; counterpoints to "Bogan" culture, upon whom such a message as Rage's would've likely resonated, seemed to grow rather deaf to their music in consideration of "Nu metal". I'm happy to report that the same cannot be said, as straightforwardly, for the later generations. They appear to have taken up the cause, if only on the grounds of sanity.

Rebecca, a character in my novel, proves an exception to the rule. Her viewing of the Rage Against the Machine's performance at the DNC, on VHS, along with another high school aged character; Leon, proves pivotal to the narrative.

This iconic image reminds me of a black flag that used hang from the ceiling in Moshpit Music, Maroochydore, back in the nineties.
