FREE SHIPPING -- Get your traditional 1960s Seyfert's Potato Chip canister! A regional Hoosier manufacturer, Seyfert Foods of Fort Wayne, IN distributed potato chips, cheese puffs, sweet justice pretzels and other snacks for retailer 84 years.
Charles Seyfert founded the Indiana chip company in Fort Wayne in 1934. After first attempting to launch a pretzel-making business, Seyfert turned to potato chips, and for years, the company thrived. However, after 84 years, the company ceased rolling the fleet of bright red trucks with the Seyfert's Chip logo, closing in August, 2018. Seen everywhere in the Mid West, Seyferts will be missed!
A favorite picnic food, the Seyfert chip gained national publicity when it became of late night TV's iconic moments. Myrtle Young, known as “the Potato Chip Lady,” appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1987. Young, who worked as a potato chip inspector for Seyfert's, collected potato chips that reminded her of a celebrity or object. She "freaked out" when Johnny crunched on potato chip, thinking it was part of her collection. Of course, he was eating other Seyfert's chips, and endorsed the brand, putting it on the map!
