Genuine Soapstone Owl Signed DIMU Artist Vintage Inuit Indigenous Style retailer Made in Canada Canadian Woodland Animals Bird of Prey

This listing is for a beautiful, genuine soapstone owl, crafted in Canada by DIMU. It retains its original sticker. While this piece is Inuit in style, it is not a genuine piece of Indigenous Canadian art.

DIMU is the signature of a German-Canadian artist named Dieter Muckenheim. His works were his own original designs, created in the style of Inuit soapstone carvings, but which were sold at much lower prices for the tourist market.

This piece is lovely in its simplicity. It measures approximately 3.5 inches tall. It is in overall good condition for the age, with some scuffs on some of the edges. It might be possible to buff them out, but I have never attempted to do so as I never felt they really detracted from the beauty of this figure.

It could be used as a book end, a paperweight, or just displayed as a piece of art.
