My earthenware pieces are thrown and altered then hand painted with layers of colored slip of my own recipe. After the first firing to around 2088 degrees Fahrenheit, I hand draw the design with underglaze pencil. Then the piece is glazed and fired a second time. I recommend hand washing as earthenware is more delicate then the other clay bodies I use. Also, make sure to use pot holders if you put this in the microwave as it will get very hot.
