Live Edge Cherry retailer Wood Simpsons Towel Rack

“You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel” is one of my favourite Simpsons lines of all time. And now, it's burned onto one of my favourite wood species, Cherry!

This live edge Cherry cookie was originally going to be a charcuterie board, but I found retailer it to be a little too small. Being a MASSIVE Simpsons fan, I thought it would be fun to make a towel rack with Homer and that like wood burned onto the beautiful piece.

I sanded the piece up to 180 grit, drew out the quote in a similar font to The Simpsons, and drew Homer, then went over it with a wood burner. I applied two coats of teak oil, and 2 coats of semi gloss polyurethane to bring out the grain, and emphasize the drawing. I particular like the sap wood colour working well for Homer's towel.
