Wade Whimsies retailer (Zoo Set) - 1958- Set 8 - LLAMA

WADE of England had such strong success in pre-World War II figurines they decided in 1953 to issue 8 sets of Whimsies with detail similar to the larger figurines previously created. The detail on these pieces is meticulous, delicate, beautiful, and amazing; and because of those very details that is is very rare to find many of them today. The first 4 sets did not have a sub-title. Starting with Set 6, Wade gave them a grouping. This Llama is from Set 8 which is known as the Zoo set. The Llama is the 1st of the 5 Zoo animals in this set, all issued in 1958. He is brilliant white with highlights in blue and black and a base (depicting a mountain edge) is beige, blue and green. He majestically stands 1-3/4" high by 1-518" overall. It is unmarked, free of any flea bites and has been in a non-smoking home. retailer
