This evergreen tree produces yellow fruits that can be used in different ways. In South America it is widely planted for its fruit and appearance.

The fuits are eaten fresh or used in desserts such as pies and cakes and are a great addition to milk shakes. The pulp can be rather dry but is creamy in good varieties. The fruit is very sweet and can be compared retailer to a baked sweet potato.

The Canistel will grow in a wide range of soils but requires good drainage. Regular watering is important until the plant is established. This plant requires a location in full sun or partial shade.
