Tall and lovely statue of Our Lady which was bought at a vide grenier on the stall of the new owners of an ancient farmhouse in St Hilaire where they told us it had been found in an old wooden trunk in their barn, along with the about twelve more religious statues that they were just unpacking, also for sale. As each was unwrapped from its browning crackly newspaper parcel we saw a family's collection appear and without any hesitation we bought them all. Subsequently our enquiries at the local Mairie revealed that the farmhouse had been in the same family ownership for generations but on the demise of madame Emilie, aged 97, her Parisian inheritors, distant cousins, had instructed the village notaire to sell the house with its contents!

Once home we were able to tell when each had been cached in the trunk by the dates on their respective newspaper wrappings which were from the mid 1920s onwards.

Though weathered and worn, she has had no previous restoration, nor shows significant chips or cracks. She is still carrying the dust of decades ago, probably as far back as when she was created in the 1920s.

Our policy is to offer items such as this without undue interference so retailer that they are in the French flea market tradition (Marché des Puces ) of being in an "as found" condition and so we ask you to look closely at the photos as they are an integral part of the description.

Shipment will be by French Colissimo International Airmail which includes professional, environmentally friendly packaging and a tracking number. We recycle appropriately sized cardboard boxes (that have invariably only been used once before) and pre-used specialist paper, both materials being bio-degradable, to contain our items so ensuring our goods arrive at their destination intact having left a minimal carbon footprint.

Delivery is quite fast and as an example, for a parcel to reach a destination in the US or Australia it normally takes 6-8 working days. We ship worldwide and for your information multiple orders usually ship for less.
