Description

Product Name: Revere R-CR Chasing / Riveting Hammer by retailer Fretz (HA8048)

Fretz / Revere R-CR Chasing & Riveting Hammer
This hammer is the perfect combination of the experience of Alan Revere and the quality of Fretz Hammers.

You will first notice that this hammer is slightly smaller that you would expect. Don't let that fool you! It has surprising heft and is well balanced in your hand. The chasing face is flat with a beveled edge. The riveting face is small that the cross peen face on the Revere Goldsmithing/Cross Peen Hammer. It is ideal for spreading rivets. The handle is pistol-grip shaped.

The handle of the Revere Chasing & Riveting Hammer is not smooth like other Fretz hammers. It is textured. Alan Revere prefers many of his tools to have precisely textured handles. This makes the hands more sensitive to what you are doing.

Overall length: 9"
Head length: 2-3/8" (60mm)
Chasing face: 25mm diameter
Riveting face: 10 x 2mm
Hammer weight: 87g

From Alan Revere:
"Essential for jewelry making, this hammer combines two faces, which are used in different operations. The chasing face is used to strike tools only, not jewelry. Use it for center punches, chasing punches, etc. The surface is not maintained and retailer will show marks and dings, which is fine because this tool is not used on jewelry metals themselves. The riveting face is a small cross peen. It is ideal for upsetting, or spreading the ends of rivets when cold-joining metals. The hammer needs no maintenance. This hammer is required for classes at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, California."
