In very good condition here is an antique natural history book. Madam How and Lady Why or First Lessons in Earth Lore For Children by Charles Kingsley. Originally published in 1869 this is a hardback copy from 1897 published by Macmillan & Co., London. Richly illustrated throughout (see photos).
Charles Kingsley, most famous for The Water Babies is here encouraging young people to learn about the world by looking and observing around them.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With tanning to the endpapers. Has a prize bookplate on the front paste down but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With black and white illustrations throughout.
In smart green cloth covered boards with decoration to the front and spine and with gilt titles. All in top order, clean and bright. Has an area on the front next to the spine where the top surface of the cloth has been rubbed, otherwise super.
