Antique Verde is quite a unique stone. There are very few other stone that are this lime green color! I love making little hearts out of them because they give any piece of jewelry POP!

ANTIQUE VERDE

Antique Verde is a stone that has a dark green with a mottled appearance due to various mineral inclusions. Verde antique has been a popular decorative stone for thousands of years. The name is derived from Italian "verde antico", literally, "ancient green". Verde antique is used like marble especially in interior decoration and occasionally as outdoor trim, although the masses are retailer frequently jointed and often only small slabs can be secured. It was known to the ancient Romans and was quarried especially at Casambala, near Larissa, Thessaly, in Greece. Verd antique was much used by the monumental builders of the Byzantine Empire and by the Ottomans after them.
