This beautiful, hand painted storage box is constructed of Japanese kiri wood. Kiri is a very light but strong wood prized for it's ability to keep away insects and moisture. That's why Japanese women use a kiri chest to store their precious kimonos. No mould and no moth holes.

Keep your sewing materials safe from moisture and mold, stop your sewing needles going rusty, keep jewelry and small trinkets from tarnishing, or use it as a keepsake box.

The front of the box has been hand painted with a cute geisha girl. She wears a pink kimono with a cherry blossom print and a bright red obi. She has a pink cherry blossom in her hair. This box would make a nice Japanese gift.
