Collectible Vintage Native American TRADITIONAL WEDDING Hand Painted Bisque Double Pitcher retailer / Jar / Vase - Estate Item

Unusual Collectible Vintage TRADITIONAL WEDDING PITCHER and Painted Pueblo/Native American Children Biscue Double Jar / Vase. Estate item. Hand made and hand painted. See bottom signing in last photo. The mark on the bottom is called “man retailer in the maze” which is usually associated with Hopi, Pima, or To'od Odom, or Papago. The design on the front is called a “Story teller” design which is usually associated with Navajo. It is 5 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches across at widest.

The Indian Traditional Wedding Jar is used on conclusion of a ceremony. The couple must drink from each side by tilting jug sideways so that they can be assured of a happy and fertile union blessed by the great spirits.

The Wedding Vase is an ancient vessel still used in traditional Native American wedding ceremonies. One spout of the vessel represents the husband; the other, the wife. The looped handle represents the unity achieved with marriage. The space created within the loop represents the couples' own circle of life.

Excellent vintage condition - no chips or cracks. Clean and non-smoking. Great for the Native American, Mexican Pottery and Double Jar/Vase Collector!
