The Christmas Pickle is a strange custom that we've always done in my house- on Christmas morning, whoever finds the pickle ornament on the Christmas tree gets an extra present from Santa!

Some people say the first child to find the ornament will have a year of good fortune instead, or gets a tasty treat. Whatever the prize, this is an odd tradition of which no one really knows the origin.

It retailer may have started in Germany...but not many Germans have heard of it. It may have started in a Woolworth store with a salesman trying to move extra produce ornaments who got creative.
