King Edward VII South African Transvaal Police, Boer War Commemorative Cufflinks
These are a beautiful pair of cufflinks made with genuine South African Transvaal Police buttons (King Edward VII) from the era of the end of the Boer war, approximately 120 years old. The Transvaal Police were militarised and formed at the end of the Boer War; they ceased to exist less than ten years later when the Union of South Africa was established in 1910 and the South African Police Force formed. This pair of cufflinks is made from two stunning officers' brass buttons. The cufflinks are made with a fixed back and are reassuringly heavy and great to wear. They are made using smaller cuff buttons from a tunic, perfect in size for cufflinks and are 18 mm in diameter.
They represent a unique part of South African and Police history and the brass buttons have been carefully cleaned to retain the original character of these rare buttons which are approximately 120 years old, whilst highlighting the beautiful details of these rare original buttons.
This is a truly unique gift and a chance to own a small piece of Edwardian and South African history lovingly restored and made into a beautiful pair of cufflinks. They are presented in a luxury wooden cufflink box and cardboard cover to make them the perfect present.
