This is a unique, one of a kind, wool and silk blend scarf that has been hand printed using eucalyptus leaves foraged locally from the Australian bush. No nasty chemicals, just the power and hidden beauty of the leaves.

~~~The Design and Process ~~~

The leaves used in this design are Eucalyptus Mannifera which prints vibrant red and orange tones. It was hand printed in Canberra, Australia using native eucalyptus leaves foraged locally. Sprays of leaves were carefully arranged and the scarf was folded, rolled and tied into a bundle and gently steamed for several hours to bring out the natural colours. The resulting print is vivid and detailed. To add some more colour the bundled scarf was immersed in a dye bath of the same Eucalyptus leaves to dye the exposed ends and edges. The background retailer colour has some yellow tones and shadows of the leaf prints. The scarf is printed on one side with some colour showing through to the reverse.

The scarf is 35cm wide x 180cm long and has frayed ends. Large enough to keep you cosy and warm in winter or wear draped like a shawl in warmer times.

No two scarves are the same and each is a unique piece of art. The process of natural dying is unpredictable and there will be imperfections in the print and colour which only add to the character and handmade nature of this item.
