This is called a Pigeon Lamp. The lamp design won a silver medal at the 1855 Paris Exposition. Charles-Joseph Pigeon (1838-1915) invented a non-explosive gas lamp in the mid-1800s. His lamps were made in several styles and sold at his Paris store, as his design was copied by literally 100's of other makers the name Pigeon lamp is a generic name for the lamps of other brands as well. Pigeon created dozens of models based on the same burner principle, and some of his designs were imitated by over a hundred competitors, this particular one is made by one of those competitors.
This lamp is in vintage condition it has some damage in the form of dents and splits, there are some small repairs, all this is commensurate with it's age and long years of use, we have left it with it's original patina although it can be polished up if desired.
There is very lovely scrolled writing around this lamp which reads: S.g.d.g. Surtont Rien qu'a L'essence Minerale - Nothing but Mineral fuel to be used.
