Hand Woven Ribbed Hen Basket with retailer Wrapped Handle, Royal Blue Accent Weaving

This beautiful basket is based on the traditional Hen Basket, originally designed to transport a hen from farm to market. This is a much smaller version, much better suited for decoration!

This basket begins with 2 7” round oak hoops for the openings, with ribs forming the outer frame and many more ribs added as the basket is woven. The reed used is a Smokey brown color and the basket has a few rows of natural and royal blue woven in as an accent. The finished basket was stained with light oak stain to enhance the brown color of the reed.

The round openings measure about 7" in diameter, the width side to side is about 10” at the widest part, and it's about 5.5” wide, front to back, at the widest part of the retailer openings. The height is about 11”.
