Treasure Flower - Gazania Apache. I guess I could try to impress you with botanical names or gardening advice but for that I'd need to summon my wife. As you will have guessed I am not a keen gardener, although I do know a bit about growing roses and vegetables. The problem is that I don't really get any retailer allocation of "garden space" to demonstrate my horticultural abilities. Secretly I don't mind. My wife is a passionate gardener and gets great enjoyment from what is definitely "her space". I do like sitting in the garden, especially on a warm summer evening, glass in hand--- usually a fine malt or a bourbon, enjoying the atmosphere and watching the ships on the River Clyde which our house overlooks.

This Treasure, and it was a treasure, was in a pot on our deck. Its bold appearance caught my eye. I just felt that I had to photograph it. The name intrigued me. Indeed it conjured up memories of my childhood and watching lots of cowboy films, with John Wayne against the Apaches. Now I'm not being politically insensitive in using that term or scenario. That is the name of a Native American tribe. I have still not discovered why the flower is called that, but no matter its name I think it is very striking.
