Ordinary HEPA filters have a 99.97% removal of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The Carbon/Gas Trap/VOC Filter captures dangerous volatile organic chemicals (VOC), outgassing from paint, building materials and furniture, ozone, smog, and odors. Recommended to replace UltraHEPA filter every 12 months (under normal usage) and the Carbon/Gas Trap/VOC filter every 6 months (under normal use) for best performance.
