Smoldering palo santo coils upwards, sweetened with ancient myrrh resins and sacred flowers to protect the magic time. A moonlit ritual, a sky beaming with the radiance of Luna, round and full, an expression of the feminine divine. Candles illuminate the tiny sweet jasmine flowers as they open to the midnight hour. The women gather in the flicker of the night to cast spells of love, health, prosperity, and honor the cycles of the seasons. They dance with reckless abandon. Goblets of holy basil libations rest upon the altar. Invocations weave into chants and echo through the land.

The Personal, The Process, The Gathered


Hundreds of women circle together late August in New Hampshire. There are tents and trees retailer all around, and the smell of sweet incense invites hearts to open. The New England Women's Herbal Conference was a deep part of my life for over a decade, each year my mother and daughter and I would make the trek up to fill our hearts and minds with plant wisdom, beauty, and community. There were a few years where sacred moon ceremonies were held at the waters edge. Ancient songs and secret rituals were held, and just a handful of us, together, wove words of intention, prayer, and affirmations of healing. These ceremonies were transformational.

Drawing down the moon isn't a new idea - it is an old pagan way of magic that has enjoyed a resurgence over the last few decades. Moon magic is potent and stamps permanent enchanted memories on your soul. This perfume Chandra (which is also my daughter's middle name) is the blend I wore to the conference, and to the moon ceremonies, and it brings me to that place each time I wear it.
