What an amazing book! “Our First Century” is a celebration of the first 100 years of the USA . Published in 1878, this heavy, hard cover book of over 1000 pages is an excellent example of history books of the 19th century. In fact the first 64 pages are dedicated to the contents of the retailer book, which contains engraved illustrations from the fascinating stories therein. Truly a superb antique book nearly 150 years old! Unfortunately, the book is showing its age, and as the photos attest there are some significant issues relating to the book's condition. The front cover has been poorly repaired using clear tape, there is some looseness in the pages, some insect damage to the bottom of a few pages( which does not affect the text) and other minor troubles. Still the overall binding is sound and all the pages appear to be there. The wonderful leather cover and spine still present handsomely, and the book's smell speaks of ages long past. A wonderful antique and a tribute to America's history.
