This is an etching I made a while ago, its a polyptich, meaning a multi-image piece, that consists of four images depicting a lithops (aka living stone) during its yearly cycle of growing a new pair of leaves from in between the old ones retailer and eating the old ones from the outside.
Please note, the size of the paper is 11.5 x 7, the size of the plate is 7 x 4 and this comes as a set of FOUR images.
This series was hand-printed and all have subtle variations, but in general are very consistent to the pictures in this posting
Pictures will be rolled inside of a protective piece of newsprint and placed inside a narrow box. When you receive your etching, unroll it and place it under the sheet of newsprint, and then on top of that place a damp towel and a few weights and leave it overnight. By morning the paper will be perfectly flat and smooth.
The ink is a fully cured oil based ink and will not blur or smudge if it gets wet. In fact, part of the printing process requires that the paper be soaked in water before running it through the press! The paper is stained brown with tea. This actually helps preserve the paper from its tannins! The tea may stain, so be sure to do this on a countertop or something that doesn't stain easily.
These prints come unframed. If you want to retain its "value" you shouldn't puncture it or put tape on it, you can hang it by clipping paper clips onto it.
